USRowing Youth Nationals 2016 Results

Malvern had a good regatta this past weekend. Races were cancelled on Sunday, with semis and finals on Saturday. Malvern Varsity Quad won their heat, finished 2nd in the semi, finishing 5th in the A final, Malvern's best finish since 2013 when the quad finished 3rd. Malvern's Varsity Light Double finished 2nd in the heat, 4th in the semi by 1 second, 3rd in the B final. The Varsity Heavy Double did not progress out of heats as repechages were cancelled to unsafe racing conditions.

UPenn's Wharton School Turns to Malvern Prep for Exercise in Collaboration

Who did the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business call when they wanted to teach their MBA students the importance of collaboration? Malvern Prep! More specifically, Malvern's championship Rowing team!

Alumni Results at the Intercollegiate Rowing Championships

Malvern alumni had a great day at the 2016 IRAs. Julian Venonsky 12 and his Cal Varsity Heavyweight Varsity 8 upset Yale in the finals today, winning Gold. Jimmy McManus 14 and his Cornell Varsity Lightweight 4 won Gold as well. Austin Velte 12 and his Yale Varsity Lightweight 8 won silver behind Columbia. Jim Sincavage 14 won bronze with his Princeton Varsity Lightweight 8.

SRAA Championships 2016

Malvern Prep raced at the Scholastic National Rowing Championships this weekend. Malvern rowers finished 3rd in the Varsity Heavyweight Quad and Varsity Heavyweight Double, 4th in the Varsity Lightweight Quad and Junior Double, 5th in the Freshman Quad event.

Stotesbury Results 2016

Malvern Rowers competed in four finals this afternoon after qualifying through semi-finals this morning. Malvern finished 2nd in the Varsity Heavyweight Quad final, 3rd in the Varsity Lightweight Double final, 3rd in the Junior Quad final, and 6th in the Varsity Heavyweight Double final. The racing was close and competitive in a deep field of schools.

Malvern Rowing Alumni Update

Former Malvern rowers had a huge weekend. Julian Venonsky 12 was in the winning varsity 8 for Cal Berkeley beating defending National Champion Washington at the PAC 12's, Austin Velte 12 Yale won the Varsity Lightweight 8 at Eastern Sprints, JP Clark 14 won Dad Vail yesterday for Drexel . Jim Sincavage 14 and Jimmy McManus 14 won medals today for Princeton and Cornell. Chris Mudrick 13 Holy Cross, Mike Lewers 12 Georgetown, Jackson Connor 14 Penn, Chris Frey 14 Dartmouth all competed at Eastern Sprints. Alex Stoczko 13 Trinity competed in the ECAC/NIRC last weekend. Austin, Mike, and Julian all graduated within the last few days.

Mid-Atlantic Regional Youth Championships


Malvern rowers in the Varsity Lightweight Double and Varsity Quad events qualified their boats this past weekend for the USRowing Youth National Championships in June, racing over 2000 meter distance. The Lightweight Double finished first with the fastest time of the light and heavyweight double events. The Varsity Heavy Quad finished second, a spirited Malvern Freshman Quad finished 2nd in the Under 17 event. The Varsity Heavy Double finished 5th in the final after winning a heat and semifinal Saturday night.

City Championships 2016

Malvern Rowing had a good day, rowing in five events at the 2016 City Championships. Malvern won three races, Varsity Heavy Double, Varsity Light Double, and Varsity Lightweight Quad, finishing 2nd in the Varsity Heavyweight Quad, Freshman Quad finished 5th.

Mercer Lake Sprints Results 2016

Malvern Rowing had a good weekend of racing at the Mercer Sprints against clubs from the Northeast region. Racing 2000 meters, Malvern Rowers won the Novice Quad, 2nd Varsity Heavyweight Quad, Varsity Lightweight Double, and the Varsity Heavyweight Quad, finishing 2nd in the Varsity Lightweight Quad.

4th Manny Flick Results

 Malvern Rowing had a great day, winning six of eight events, finishing 2nd in the other two. Malvern rowers won the Junior Single, Junior Double, Varsity Light Double, two finals of the Varsity Heavyweight Double, and the Varsity Heavyweight Quad, finishing 1/2 second ahead.

2nd Manny Flick Results

Malvern Rowing had a good day at the 2nd Manny Flick, winning the Varsity Lightweight Double, Varsity Heavyweight Double, and Varsity Lightweight Quad events. Malvern finished 2nd in the Freshman Quad and Varsity Heavyweight Quad events. Malvern's Varsity Heavyweight Quad finished 2 seconds behind Roman Catholic and .07 seconds ahead of Conestoga.

1st Manny Flick Results

Malvern Rowing had a good start to the Spring 2016 Rowing Season. Malvern Rowers won the Varsity Lightweight Quad and Malvern A and Malvern B Varsity Quad boats won both heats of the Varsity Heavyweight Quad, Malvern's JV single finished second.

Malvern Rowers Set U.S. Record in 24x

Malvern and Haverford Rowers had the chance to row a 24x at the CRC and in the process set a speed record. For more information and to see a video of the row click here


Head of the Schuylkill 2015 Results

Malvern Rowing had a good day, finishing 3rd in the Varsity Quad event against 45 schools and clubs. In addition, 11 Malvern rowers rowed in the Varsity Single finishing 8th and 10th against 70 schools and clubs. Malvern had medal finishes in the Novice Single and Novice Double events.

Hidden River Chase Regatta Results

Malvern rowing had a good day, racing in a local regatta against top Philadelphia crews. Malvern varsity quads  finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, losing the race by less than a second to Roman Catholic HS. Malvern quad  rowers later raced again in the Varsity Double event, finishing 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th in a 23 boat field, losing to a composite boat.

The team will be running for the next two weeks, in preparation for the Turkey Trot six mile race on Thanksgiving Day.

Malvern had a good day racing, finishing 14th and 24th in the Youth Double event in a field of 51 boats entered. The race included boats from the USA and Europe. Malvern rowing alumni also raced in many events, including the club 4, club 8, collegiate 4, collegiate 8, championship light 4, championship light 8, and Championship 8.

Malvern rowing alumni continue to be successful at the collegiate and national team level.

Navy Day Regatta 2015

Malvern Rowing had a good day racing, finishing 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th, and 11th to 15th, in a field of 36 singles in the High School single event at the Navy Day Regatta. Malvern scullers also raced in the open single event with sophomore Pat Keenan finishing fastest at 14th, winning the High School single event later in the day.

Mid-Atlantic Regionals

Malvern Rowing won the Under 17 single and Under 17 Quad events, finishing 2nd in the Varsity Quad race. The Varsity Quad qualified for USRowing Youth National Championship for Schools and Clubs held in June in Sarasota Florida. Malvern prepares this week for Stotesbury Regatta, racing begins Friday.

City Championships 2015

Malvern's youngest rowers in the Freshman Quad and Novice Quad events won gold medals Sunday at the City Championships. Malvern had never won both at Cities before Sunday. Malvern's Varsity Light Quad and Varsity Heavy Quad finished 3rd and 4th in disappointing performances. The team regroups Saturday at Mercer, NJ for the USRowing Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
